Cortisol Levels Are Pinging, So it’s Shutdown!

Posted on November 11, 2025February 8, 2026 by Dionne

I’m warning you: it’s probably gonna get super nerdy round here. The long and short of it is…

I’ve felt like a coiled spring for ages and I’ve been reading lots of neuroscience-y bits.

Apparently, these feelings are because of a dysregulated nervous system.

Basically, my cortisol levels are through the roof and my nervous system is on HIGH ALERT.

According to my body, the signals being picked up are: there’s tigers, bears, great whites… serial killers everywhere!

I know millennials are a tad bit dramatic, but between us, it was probably a slack message, an email and a micromanager.

Even so. Here we are.

FFS.

Still, in its own prehistoric way, I know it’s a way to keep me safe.

So in the words of Skepta, “It’s shutdown!”

Sleep. Thinking. Joy. The whole shebang.

I’m trying to learn how to takeover and rewire the signals. For now I’m in a tell my body it’s safe without telling it it’s safe, type of situation.

Because logic doesnt work. It only responds to:

  • Nature
  • Breathwork
  • Sunlight
  • Safe connections

Bloody primadona!

Joking aside, if it that what it takes to calm me down, then, I’m down.

This new project had me out walking at the crack of dawn. Not only was it stunning, but I felt the peace almost immediately.

So for now, it’s all love. Self love.
