I had a lovely quote lined up for today, but after a week of meetings with higher-ups, I realised I’m actually “quoted-out.”
So instead, I decided to take the advice to step away from digital devices and get outside.
I read that apparently spending just 10 minutes in nature works wonders for lowering those anxiety-inducing cortisol levels.
It was published in some fancy university study in 2024 and even said doctors could start “prescribing spending 10 minutes in nature per day”
Obvs, the longer the better, but as Tesco says, “every little helps”
Of course the pharmaceutical companies might have something to say about that.
So, I wouldn’t hold your breath.
Anyway, I don’t remember the article saying you had to go anywhere fancy for your ten minute dose, so I tottered off in the direction of the local park — and I’m glad I did.
I can’t say I felt miles better; it was freezing, to tell you the truth.
But I was pretty pleased with just being outdoors.
Being cooped up all day with Derek from Operations, can’t be too good, can it?
Thinking about it: better make it 20 minutes next time.
At least.
